How I Think About Ministry
My primary calling is vocational pastoral ministry, specifically with high school students — I'm completing my remaining SDSU graduation requirements and an Associate's in Theology at Summit Bible College while serving as a pastoral resident at College Avenue Baptist Church, building skills in preaching, apologetics, and biblical languages through coursework and hands-on ministry with our students. Longer-term, I'm exploring accredited seminary options in San Diego to keep growing as a communicator, in service of leading a high school ministry well — and, over time, preaching to the whole church too.
Ministry & Leadership Experience
- Pastoral Resident, College Avenue Baptist Church (since June 2026) — accredited coursework paired with sermon preparation and ongoing ministry responsibilities.
- Small Group Leader, High School Ministry — College Avenue Baptist Church — leading a group every Wednesday night.
- High School Ministry Volunteer, home church — three years of service in high school ministry prior to this residency.
- Guest & Rotating Preacher, various ministries (2025–Present) — preaching experience across different ministry contexts.
- Speaker, Kamp Love — SDSU (2026–2027) — delivering talks to student audiences for an SDSU outreach ministry.
- Co-Leader, College Prayer Team — helping organize and shepherd a peer-led prayer community.
Also completing: B.S. Finance (San Diego State University) and A.A. Theology (Summit Bible College), both expected 2027.
A Proposal for Our Ministry
I recently proposed a set of changes to our high school ministry night, and a system to help small-group leaders catch students who are quietly drifting away — before it's too late to reach out.
